Tell me some fun facts about yourself:
- I served in the US Army.

- I love CrossFit and I manage an F45 Gym in Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada.
- I have a German Shepherd named Duke who is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Tell me about your recent release.
I released The Morning Glories on March 5th. It is called The Morning Glories (Everywhere I have ever lived, my mother planted Morning Glories, a vining flower that blooms every day and closes at night). This is my debut novel. My next novel, The Cicada Tree is almost complete.
How did you publish?
I originally signed to an international company in London after quite a bidding war. Then I decided that if that many people wanted my stories, that they obviously saw something in me that maybe I didn’t see in me yet. So I decided to keep all rights, start my own company and publish myself. I am glad that I did it that way.
Advice for a new writer?
Keep writing. Write everything. Observe everything and listen intently. As my great grandmother used to say: “Everything is grist for the writer’s mill.” Most of my inspiration has come from the most dubious of places. It shouldn’t make sense…until it does!
