• Writer Spotlight: Gabriela Mistral

    Gabriela Mistral is the first woman writer we will be focusing on during Women’s History Month. Ms. Mistral is the first Latin American woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. She became a “symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world.” Gabriela was born in Chile and ended up passing at 68 years old in New York. She was a school teacher and then became a full-time poet when she started to get more well-known. Gabriela Mistral is actually a pseudonym, her real name Lucile Alcayaga.
