Who is Represent Publishing?

We realized recently that we haven’t properly introduced you to the fine folks who make up Represent Publishing. We hope you’ll enjoy getting to know us!

Chelsea Lauren

Founder of Represent, Editor, and Book Coach

What I do at Represent: I started Represent Publishing, so I run the business. I am also the editor, book coach, formatter, and I help writers through the self-publishing process.

My published books: I’ve published are Underneath the Whiskey, Simply An Enigma, and I have two short stories in Winter Neverland: An Anthology. 

Books I’ve helped publish: Sculpt Yourself by Savy Leiser, Light of Evanora by T.R. Nickel, Mommy and Daddy, Do I Matter? and Daddy, Why Are You Drinking? by Yasmin Torres, a poetry collection, Rooted by Cassandra Chaput, and Simply An Enigma by Brittany Evans and Chelsea Lauren.

Currently Reading: You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle

Favorite Book as an Adult: Autoboyography by Christina Lauren and Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. 

Favorite Book as a Child: I loved Frog and Toad, Berenstain Bears, and Dr. Seuss.

Where do you live?: Upstate, New York

Dream vacation destination: New Zealand! 

Hobbies/Interests: Camping, reading, writing, and hiking with my pup and fiancé. 

Interesting facts about me: I lived in Australia for a year, au pairing for six months, and then traveled the entire country the following six months.

Kelly Johnson

Social Media/Marketing Manager

What I do at Represent: I’m the one who creates most of the content you see on our social media channels and, 95% of the time, it’s me liking and commenting on your posts. If I tell a personal story in a comment thread, I try to remember to indicate that it’s me rather than Chelsea. I also occasionally write blog posts!

Books published: Seven at the Sevens: A Collection of Seven-Word Stories, Memoirs, and Poems by Writers Anonymous. I was a contributing author, but used a pen name because we were supposed to be anonymous! This book was created by my writer’s group when I lived in Boston. We used to meet at the Sevens Pub (hence the name of the book) on Charles Street in the historic Beacon Hill neighborhood. They even have a poster of our book cover hanging on the wall!

Favorite Book as an Adult: Angels & Demons by Dan Brown

Favorite Book as a Child: Clifford the Big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell

Where do you live?: Washington, the state

Dream vacation destination: London

Hobbies/Interests: Renaissance fairies, sci-fi/fantasy conventions, space exploration, ghost hunting, traveling, constantly checking the prices of plane tickets, genealogy, sewing, writing, nature.

Interesting facts about me: Before I started offering virtual assistant services, I was a carpenter for eight years! I also have a black belt in Shaolin kung fu and have worked at renaissance faires for more than half my life.

Graphic Designer 

What I do at Represent: I do graphic design to help create promotional graphics to promote the books published here at Represent Publishing. Things such as bookmarks, release date promos, and more! 

Books published: I co-wrote and published Simply An Enigma with Chelsea but am currently pursuing traditional publishing with my solo writing.

Favorite Book as an Adult: The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins

Favorite Book as a Child: The Fire Within (The Last Dragon Chronicles) by Chris d’Lacy

Where do you live?: In a very small city in Northern Ontario, Canada. 

Dream vacation destination: Either Greece or Japan! 

Hobbies/Interests: Aside from spending a lot of my free time writing, I also draw, play video games, go on lots of hikes, and drink way too much Starbucks.

Interesting facts about me: My default of interesting fact about me is saying I’m left-handed. But I also am one of those annoying people who fall asleep immediately upon laying down and can sleep through absolutely anything.
