Introduce Yourself! Who are you, what do you write, what are some fun facts?

Hi! I’m J.P. Mooney, I have written and independently published 14 books.

Genre:

I currently write in romance suspense, poetry and self-help genres.

Fun Fact:

I am also a Neuro-linguistics Programming Practitioner. I love diving into how the human mind works, exploring strategies used by successful individuals and applying them to reach personal goals.

How did you start writing?

I started writing in 2011 during my first year at university. This was when I discovered my strength in creative writing. I haven’t stopped since.

What is your writing process like?

Although I am structured in my everyday routine, my writing process can be erratic when I’m working on publishing a book. I dedicate some time to writing each day. However, it’s not uncommon for me to stay up all night when I’m creatively motivated.

What inspired you to write the Mated Fortune Series?

Many years ago, I started writing notes for Isabella Book 1 in the Mated Fortune Series. At the time, I didn’t have a sense of direction. I just had an idea for the character and wrote anything that came to mind. Then I decided to create a surreal world with a narrative that would have readers gripping their seats. I think my writing for this book series was influenced by the crime thriller themes I was reading at the time, although I was sure I wanted to add the element of romance in my books. Since Isabella was published, I received interest and positive feedback that encouraged me to write the series.

Do you have any other books?

Yes, I have poetry books that focus on my observations during meditation practices. They are also somewhat meditative to read. In 2021, I released Understand The Power of Your Mind series, which consists of short ebooks that explore ways to reprogram the subconscious mind for self-development.

Do any authors influence your writing?

Although I read many books in various genres, other authors’ styles do not influence my writing. I always flow with my ideas to create distorted realities for my characters.

What is your favorite piece of writing advice?

Always write an idea down quickly before you forget. And make time to write frequently.

Promote yourself! How can people find you? Are you working on anything new?

You can find me on my website where I post weekly on my personal development blog. I am also on Instagram and Pinterest: j.p.mooney_author. I am currently working on publishing Book 4 in the Mated Fortune Series.
